I would like to say your bar plans with the material list were absolutely right on. Plus, all the hardware options just fantastic! I made the bar out of solid oak and also 3/4 oak plywood. Your plans, step by step by step got my bar built with ease and no mis-cuts. With the natural beauty of this oak there was no staining happening, I put three coats of polyurethane on the sides and five coats on the top which brought out the true natural beauty. I used pine for the trim around the raised panels and for the arm rail which I primed and painted the color of our decor. Family and friends say how good it looks. As they pat me on the back ( I never take all the credit) I never forget to mention how I got this rock solid, great looking bar built, step by step with your plans. The folks at our local Rockler store were a big help and gave me a lot of advice along the way. The top is made from a slab of Brazilian granite, the rest, solid oak, stained and waxed. I learned the hard way that oak can be a difficult wood to work with as a beginner, and that a Kreg Jig is a gift from God. I bought the brass rail to go around the bottom, but haven't put it on yet. I bought the rail from Kegworks on your site and it is absolutely beautiful and heavy solid brass. If one is patient, takes the time to do it right, and gets advice from someone like the folks at Rockler, your plans, in addition to making a great looking bar, also provide hours of fun and personal satisfaction. It is red oak with walnut stain and 3 coats of lacquer. It also has a ¼” clear epoxy top. The lighting and size of the room make it hard to do justice to the finished piece with a photo. Thanks.
